Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using PC Parts Lens ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

PC Parts Lens provides historical pricing data and trends for computer components sourced from publicly available marketplaces, along with optional price and stock alerts. The Service is intended for informational purposes only and does not constitute financial or purchasing advice.

3. Accounts

Browsing the Service does not require an account. Creating one lets you set alerts and, if you choose, subscribe to a paid plan.

• You must provide a valid email address and keep it accurate. It is where we send alerts and account notices.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe it has been compromised.
• Accounts are for a single person. Do not share credentials or let others use your account.
• You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.

4. Subscriptions, Billing, and Cancellation

The Service offers a free tier and a paid "Pro" tier. Current prices and what each tier includes are shown on our Pricing page and at checkout. Payments are processed by Stripe; by subscribing you also agree to Stripe's terms.

• Automatic renewal. Pro subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period — monthly or annually, whichever you chose — at the then-current price, until you cancel. You authorize us to charge your payment method on each renewal.
• Cancellation. You may cancel at any time from your membership page. Your Pro features remain active through the end of the billing period you have already paid for, and the subscription does not renew after that.
• Refunds. Subscription fees are non-refundable, including for partial billing periods, except where a refund is required by law. Canceling stops future charges; it does not refund charges already made.
• Price changes. We may change subscription prices. We will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before a change takes effect for your subscription, and you may cancel before it does.
• Failed payments. If a payment fails, we may retry it and may suspend or downgrade Pro features until payment succeeds.
• Downgrade. When Pro ends, your account reverts to the free tier and its limits. Alerts and history beyond those limits may become inaccessible while your account is on the free tier.

5. Data Accuracy

We make reasonable efforts to ensure the accuracy of pricing data displayed on the Service. However, we do not guarantee that prices, availability, or product information are current, complete, or error-free. Always verify pricing directly with the retailer before making a purchase.

6. Alerts and Notifications

Alerts are provided on a best-effort basis. Prices are sampled at intervals rather than continuously, marketplaces change prices without notice, and email delivery is outside our control. We do not guarantee that an alert will fire, that it will fire promptly, or that a price will still be available when you act on one. Do not rely on alerts where a missed notification would cause you loss.

The number of alerts you may keep active depends on your tier, as described on the Pricing page. We may adjust these limits, and may pause or remove alerts on accounts that are inactive or in breach of these terms.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
• Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Service by automated means, other than through the export feature described in section 8.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its underlying infrastructure.
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
• Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service or access to it.

8. Data Export

Pro subscribers may export price history in CSV or JSON format. Subject to these terms, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use exported data for your own personal or internal business purposes — including analysis, reporting, and research.

You may not republish, resell, or redistribute exported data as a standalone dataset, or use it to build or train a competing price tracking or price comparison service. Excerpts used in commentary, journalism, or academic work are fine with attribution to PC Parts Lens. This license ends when your subscription does, but you may keep and continue using data you exported while it was active.

9. Intellectual Property

The design, code, compilation of data, charts, and written content of the Service are the property of PC Parts Lens and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Except as permitted in section 8, you may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from them without our express written consent.

Product names, images, trademarks, and listing content originate with their respective manufacturers and marketplaces and remain their property. We claim no ownership over them, and nothing on the Service implies endorsement by or affiliation with them beyond the affiliate relationships disclosed in section 10.

10. Third-Party Links and Affiliate Disclosure

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites. We encourage you to review the terms and privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

Some of the links we provide to third-party marketplaces are affiliate links. If you follow one and make a purchase, PC Parts Lens may earn a commission, at no additional cost to you. This does not affect the prices we record or report: pricing data is collected from each marketplace independently of any affiliate relationship, and marketplaces are listed cheapest first regardless of whether a link earns a commission.

11. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and how long we keep it. By using the Service you agree to the practices it describes.

12. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, or error-free.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PC Parts Lens shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service — including any purchasing decision made in reliance on our data or any alert that did not arrive. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or one hundred US dollars, whichever is greater.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability, so parts of the above may not apply to you.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time, and may request deletion of your account as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service.

If we terminate a paid subscription other than for your breach, we will refund the unused portion of the current billing period. Sections 9, 12, 14, and 15 survive termination.

14. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. You and PC Parts Lens agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and both parties consent to personal jurisdiction there.

Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking relief in small claims court, or limits any right you have to bring a claim before a consumer protection agency in your jurisdiction.

15. General

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and PC Parts Lens regarding the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

16. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date, and we will give notice of material changes by email to account holders. Continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.
